#2112 Port Adelaide Recreation Centre

The Port Adelaide Recreation Centre, in the heart of historic Port Adelaide is the home to the West Adelaide Bearcats Basketball Club, to which we reinvented some outdated squash courts into some much needed practice court space.

  • Design+Construct

The building that is now known as Port Adelaide Recreation Centre had commenced its life as a tractor showroom and warehouse. Over time it has been used for various sporting and community groups, and in particular the West Adelaide Bearcats Basketball Club.

The era of squash being a popular sport had come to a close and the squash courts were being used for storage and exercise equipment. As the basketball club grew, it became obvious that this much needed real estate could be redeveloped as a practice half court area to assist in training, especially for junior basketball.

We came in to measure up and prepare the drawings of the existing building for the club to use in their application for State Government funding and once this was approved came back to carry out the demolition and construction works.
